WHO?

🤘🏻 Hail Metalheads!
Welcome to the space where music gets a face.
My name is Marian Pentek, and I’m the person behind Face of Thunder.
I’ve been working with visual design and illustration for over 25 years, with experience spanning graphic design, illustration, photography, and visual work for creative and technical projects.
What draws me to metal is not just intensity. It’s the sense that the music opens something — a threshold to older, darker places that don’t fully belong to this world.
Uncharted realms. Forgotten presences. Forms that feel as if they have waited long before the first note was played.
Face of Thunder exists to give those impressions a body.
⚡ What I Do
I create original metal artwork centered on atmosphere and presence.
Not illustrations that merely match a genre, but figures and symbols that feel unearthed rather than invented.
For bands that want to look as powerful as they sound. If your music calls something from the depths — I’ll forge it.
🎨 How I Work
Most ideas start on paper. I search for form and presence before I think about rendering.
I tend to gravitate toward muted, desaturated palettes — tones that feel aged or restrained — and then introduce a focused contrast that creates tension and draws attention.
Digital tools, including AI, are part of the craft. But the concept and atmosphere come first.
If the image works without effects, it will work with them.
